You can block TikTok on iPhone in three escalating ways. All three use Apple's Screen Time under the hood; they differ in how easy they are to bypass at 1am, which is the only time that matters.
Option 1: Screen Time app limit (built-in)
- Settings → Screen Time → App Limits → Add Limit.
- Pick Social → TikTok, set a daily limit (say 30 minutes).
- When time's up, iOS shows "You've reached your limit."
The problem: the same screen offers Ignore Limit → 15 more minutes. At night, with your defenses down, that button wins almost every time.
Option 2: Downtime + Always Allowed
Settings → Screen Time → Downtime schedules a phone-wide quiet window (e.g. 10pm–7am) where only apps you've whitelisted work. Stronger, but blunt — it blocks your meditation app along with TikTok, and the bypass button is still one tap away.
Option 3: A dedicated blocker with a real cost of entry
Third-party blockers use Apple's Family Controls framework — the same system shield — but replace the "ignore" button with their own unlock flow. The block sticks or breaks on the quality of that flow: too harsh and you delete the app, too soft and it's the ignore button again.
Blocking TikTok with Lumi
- Connect Screen Time once (Apple's permission screen).
- Add a blocker for TikTok — start from Lumi's late-night preset or build your own schedule (weekdays, all day, whatever fits your doom window).
- Meet the shield. Opening TikTok now shows Lumi's screen instead: a rotating affirmation and two choices — take a moment with her, or walk away.
- Affirm to unlock. Want in anyway? Read, type, or trace one affirmation and you get a short, honest window (you choose how many minutes). No shame, no trap — just a breath first.
The difference from the Ignore button: Lumi's unlock takes ten conscious seconds and gives you something back. Most nights, that beat is enough to remember you were about to give TikTok your sleep.
